Maritime College's Department of Professional Education and Training(PET) has served the maritime community with career education, license renewal, customized corporate training and online and distance learning opportunities.

Maritime PET is committed to educating future mariners and current professionals at all career levels. Our goals include:

• Providing training programs and individual courses to facilitate entry into the merchant marine at the support and operational levels.
• Providing training programs and individual courses to individuals already in the maritime profession that facilitate advancement within the merchant marine.
• Providing continuing education courses that meet the regulatory and industry demand for advanced training.
• Providing customized courses and related services based on the specific needs of companies, affiliates and other organizations that have vested interests in maritime advancement, training, educational and safety issues.

Maritime PET offers career training for merchant marine professionals in private industry as well as the military (MMR). In addition, Maritime PET is committed to providing the most comprehensive training opportunities to the marine and boating industries, as well as corporate development solutions for businesses that have interests in maritime-related fields. Our new corporate training division, the Institute for International Commerce (IIC), hosts executive events and seminars to address the latest developments and issues in the global shipping industry.

Courses are offered onsite at our Throggs Neck, New York City campus, flanked on either side by the East River and the Long Island Sound. Working with well known educational partners, we are able to facilitate the nautical educational needs of markets outside of the greater New York City area.
