 Information

In the Spring of 2004 Maritime began to make graduate courses available in an online (also known as distance learning) environment.

The classes available in this mode have grown every term until, at the time of this writing, the five core courses required in the Masters of Science in International Transportation Management (MS ITM) degree and an additional seven elective courses are available.  Click here to be taken to the pages describing the MS ITM Program

Please see Online or Distance Learning versus Classroom Learning for a brief comparison of the differences and similarities between the two modes of delivering the educational experience.

The Humanities Department has also begun to offer courses in the online environment as has the Global Business and Transportation Department for the ITT curriculum during the Fall 2007 term.

Maritime has begun its migration from the existing learning management system to a new platform, ANGEL. Please go to the ANGEL web site for further information.

Access to Your Online Class

You must be officially registered for an online class in the Maritime Registration System to be able to access and participate in the class.

You must have your student ID and PIN available in order to register for classes.

Online classes are indicated in the official course schedule as follows.

Under the Meets column:

Time: TBA – TBA

Online courses are asynchronous courses. You, your peers, and the instructor access the course when you and they wish to access the course. There is no established meeting time.

Location: ANGEL

There is no location for the class to meet except, if you like, in cyberspace or on the Internet.

Thus, looking at the Time and Location will tell you whether this is an online course.

Access ANGEL ONLINE by going to the Maritime ANGEL Domain.

The ID will be the first portion of your Maritime e-mail address.

For example, if your Maritime e-mail address is “waltersmi.gr,” then your ANGEL id is “waltersmi.gr.”

Your default password is “II-nnnn.” "II" are the first initial of your given and surnames and must be entered in upper case.  "nnnn" are the last four digits of your social security number.  This password is the same as your Maritime e-mail password.  This means, if you have changed your password for e-mail, you must use the changed password.  Please call the Maritime Department of Information Technology Help Desk at 718-409-6917 if you do not know this information.
