DEAN OF STUDENTS:
Dr. Irene R. Delgado:
Before her arrival at SUNY Maritime in the Fall 2010, Dr. Delgado served as Senior Associate Dean for Student Engagement at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY. During her five years at Mercy, she also held the position of Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Delgado was Assistant Dean of Operations, School of Education at Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY. She was also Director of Extension Programs at SUNY/Westchester Community College and was an Adjunct Professor of Marketing there.
After joining Long Island University in 1992, she held a series of administrative positions during the next eight years that included: Director of Admissions & Marketing for the Rockland Campus and Director of Admissions for the Rockland and Westchester campuses; Graduate Admissions Counselor and Assistant to the Provost, Westchester Campus.
Dr. Delgado holds a BS from Mercy College and an MBA in Marketing (graduating with distinction) from LIU. She also received a Post-Masters Certificate, Management and a MS in Applied Counseling from LIU. Dr. Delgado was a university fellow for three years at the CUNY/Graduate Center in New York while as she pursued her Ph.D., in Educational Psychology.
STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES:
Associate Dean
Tardis Johnson: Dean Johnson joined Maritime College as the Associate Dean in 2006. A veteran of SUNY and advocate of public higher education, Dean Johnson earned his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University at Albany and earned his Master of Science from the school of Public Affairs at Baruch College. Before joining Maritime, Dean Johnson served as the Assistant Director of Student Activities at the University at Albany and the Director of Student Activities and Orientation at SUNY Old Westbury.
In his role as the Associate Dean, he leads the student support services area under Student Life. Student Support Services ties together the areas of Academic Advising, Accessibility Services, the Learning Assistance Center, the LEAD 101 and SAIL program as well as the SUNY Educational Opportunity Program. He also serves as Diversity Officer for Maritime College and is working on completing his doctorate degree in education from Northeastern University.
Learning Assistance Center Coordinator
Conrad Linton: Mr. Linton joined Maritime College as the Learning Assistance Center Coordinator for Student Support Services in 2006. He earned his M.A. in Mathematics at Hunter College and has been a lecturer at Maritime College since 1993. As the Coordinator, Conrad works with hiring and scheduling all tutors in the Learning Assistance Center.
Coordinator of International Student Services
Devon Switzer: Devon Switzer joined SUNY Maritime College as the Coordinator of International Student Services in April 2010. She previously served as the Assistant Director of Graduate and International Admissions at the University at Albany. Devon has a Certificate of Advanced Study and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the University at Albany, where she also earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and was a scholar athlete in the University’s Division I Field Hockey Program.
STUDENT PROGRAMS:
Director
Arianne Romeo: Ms. Romeo joined SUNY Maritime in Fall 2010. She earned her Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Counseling in 2002 from Hofstra University where she worked in Student Affairs for over 10 years. As Director, Arianne leads the Student Programs area under Student Life. Student Programs ties together Student Activities, Orientation, Student Government and Intramurals. She also serves as an academic advisor in our LEAD 101 Program.
Graduate Assistant
Anna Grafakos: Ms. Grafakos joined Maritime College as the Graduate Assistant (GA) for Student Life in 2011. She earned her B.A. in Multicultural English Literature from SUNY College at Old Westbury and is beginning her M.A. in Higher Education and Student Personnel Services at New York University. As a GA, Alexis advises the "Eight Bells" Yearbook and writes and distributes "The Porthole" every week.
Graduate Assistant
Robert Hickson: Mr. Hickson joined the office of Student Activities in the Fall of 2010 and cooridnates our Intramural Sports. He is also the Running Backs Coach for the Privateers and coordinates the video services for the football team. Robert is currently pursuing his Masters in Sports Management with a focus on Coaching from St. Johns University.
HEALTH SERVICES:
Director
Cortney Worrell: Ms. Worrell joined Maritime College as the Director for Health Services and Mental Health Counselor in 2006. She earned her M.S.S.A. from Case Western Reserve University in Social Administration. As Director, Cortney leads the Health Services area under Student Life. Health Services ties together the areas of Mental Health Wellness and Medical Services. She also leads the Maritime Intervention Team for the college.
Physician's Assistant
Maureen Walsh, RPA-C: Maureen Walsh joined Maritime College as a the PA for Health Services in April of 2011. She earned her B.S. and Physician’s Assistant Certification from Long Island University/Brooklyn Hospital. As the PA Maureen provides medical care, treatment, health education and facilitates care to outside facilities by a specialist when needed. She is also certified to teach CPR/AED/First aid and teaches the Medical Care provider class at Maritime College. She has been an important addition to Student Life by providing health and wellness care and education to the Maritime community.
College Physician
John Ventrudo: Dr. Ventrudo joined Maritime College as the College Physician for Health Services in 2007. He earned his B.S. from Maritime College and his M.D. from University College Dublin, Faculty of Medicine. As the College Physician, Dr. Ventrudo provides medical care and treatment to students at Maritime College.
JUDICIAL AFFAIRS:
Coordinator
Dorion Germany: Major Germany joined Maritime College as the Judicial Affairs Coordinator in 2006. He earned his J.D. from Syracuse University School of Law. As the Coordinator, Dorion manages the Judicial Affairs area under Student Life. Judicial Affairs is charged with the maintenance of the Maritime College Code of Conduct as well as management of the due process system. He also serves as the Head Coach for the Privateer Rifle Team.
