Housing FAQ

What is my room fee?

Your room fee depends on the type of room you are assigned to or request, and is as follows:

•    Double Occupancy:       $3,297.00 per semester*
•    Triple Occupancy:         $2,629.00 per semester*
•    Quadruple Occupancy:  $2,100.00 per semester*
*Room rates are subject to change.*

All rooms are initially billed at the double rate; students assigned to triple or quadruple occupancy rooms are refunded appropriately after the assignments have been made.

Can I pay for a single occupancy room?

No.  Currently, SUNY Maritime does not offer single occupancy rooms.

Does my housing fee include a security deposit*?

Yes.  All students living on campus are required to pay a security deposit to ensure monetary responsibilities are fulfilled should the room, it’s furnishings, or common areas be damaged by the students and their guests.

The security deposit is a one-time charge of $250.00 that is maintained as long as you live on campus.  When you move off campus or graduate, the fee will be refunded to you provided that no damages or debts that the deposit covers are assessed.

*This security deposit policy may be subject to change.*

Do I have to have a meal plan if I live on campus?

Yes.  All students living on campus are required to have a meal plan.  The plans differ in the number of meals and number of times students are allowed to eat per week:

Do I have to pay a cable fee?

Yes, all students living on campus must pay a cable fee, with the exception of 4/c and 3/c students in the Regiment.

I heard that 3rd and 4th Class Regimental Students are not allowed to watch TV.  Is that true?

Yes, that is true.  As part of the Regimental Program and the agreement that the Regimental students abide by, 3rd and 4th class students are not permitted to have or watch television.   This restriction is designed to assist the students in focusing on their academics and keep their GPA as high as they can achieve without distraction.

What happens if I withdraw from housing?

Depending on when you withdraw from on campus housing, you may be eligible for different levels of refunds for your housing.  The levels are as follows:

•    1st week of class:  100%
•    2nd week of class:  70%
•    3rd week of class:  50%
•    4th week of class:  30%
•    5th week of class and after:  No refund is given.

The refund for meal plans is pro-rated on a weekly basis. No refund is granted for a period of less than a week.

Your security deposit is refunded upon graduation, disenrollment, or permanent withdrawal from on-campus housing provided that all financial and academic obligations are fulfilled.
