SAIL Leadership Program
Vision Statement
S.A.I.L. seeks to accomplish three general learning outcomes:
(AAC&U, 2002)
  1. Personal development: Develop intellectual and ethical judgment.
  2. Civic responsibility: Cultivate knowledge and behavior through engagement.
  3. Professional competencies: Prepare students for involvement in a global society.
SAIL Goals
 
     1. Unified learning - connecting curricular and co-curricular
     2. Supports and encourages campus/community involvement
     3. Reinforcing the Mission of SUNY Maritime College:
  • A learning environment that stimulates intellectual growth, scholarship, and creativity
  • A structured community which emphasizes responsible citizenship and self-discipline and which maximizes opportunities for exercising leadership
 4. Strategy to advance the mission of graduating “…prospective leaders for the state, nation, and maritime and international business community...”
 
Mission Statement
 
As the Collegiate program of the National Institute for Leadership & Ethics, SAIL provides for student-defined paths to integrate and synthesize in-discipline, out-of-discipline, and out-of-classroom educational experiences intentionally to develop leadership skills and civic consciousness, in keeping with the college motto, Loyalty & Valor.
