I would like to kick-off this year’s Sallyport Fund by thanking those alumni, parents and friends who gave so generously to last year’s appeal. In its inaugural year, the Sallyport Fund raised over $370,000 from only 560 donors for an average gift of over $660 - what a tremendous accomplishment! Thank you.
The Sallyport Fund is SUNY Maritime College’s annual giving program designed to raise unrestricted funds for scholarships, tuition assistance and a wide variety of programs that directly benefit the College, our cadets and students. Last year, the Sallyport Fund raised over $370,000, and I thank all those 560 alumni, parents, and friends who gave so generously during its inaugural year. Your generosity had a direct effect on so many of our students by enabling us to offer them financial assistance.
Our total alumni population is well over 10,000 graduates. In order for Maritime College to maintain its leadership role in international maritime education and training, and its position as one of the top schools in the northeast, we will need the support of all those capable of giving. Be assured, any and all gifts to the Sallyport Fund are graciously accepted – our goal is to have 100% participation from alumni, parents and friends.
If you or your spouse work for a company that offers matching gifts, you may be able to double or even triple your gift by taking advantage of this important giving tool. Simply contact your company’s human resources office for details.
