Regiment of Cadets

Regiment of Cadets

The regiment creates unity and comradery, and allows for individual growth in ways students do not experience at most colleges. With a variety of activities and events, the regiment is a vital part of campus life. Membership is required for all students who plan to pursue a U.S. Coast Guard license.

To learn the ways of the regiment, all incoming cadets are required to participate in indoctrination: a 10-day summer orientation program that occurs on campus. Through this program, cadets form strong bonds and are better prepared for their first semester of college, having already learned campus and made friends.

The regiment also lets cadets travel the world on summer sea term on board the college's training ship, The Empire State VI. Cadets may also choose to work on a commercial vessel through the cadet-shipping program.
