General Requirements

You are required to obtain an authorizing signature for travel on page 3 of the Form I-20 before en route to your destination.

Make an appointment with the international student advisor to endorse your I-20, leaving a sufficient amount of time before your planned departure. It is essential that you have time to make arrangements to renew your passport and/or visa if necessary, before departing the United States. You cannot re-enter the country without valid immigration documentation.

Bring the completed travel form to your appointment.

In addition, you must speak with your professors prior to making any travel arrangements. Missing any number of courses may affect your academic standing. If you are in the Regiment and traveling while school is in session, you must complete the Special Liberty Form and return it to the appropriate person.

When you travel within or outside of the United States, you are responsible for carrying all immigration documents (valid passport, valid visa, form I-20, and I-94) in addition to your Maritime College student ID and health insurance card. You may be asked to present your documents at any time during your travels within the U.S., so it is important to be prepared. When traveling internationally, you are required to have all documents in your possession. You will not be able to re-enter the country if you are missing any one of the immigration documents.
