Institutional Research and Assessment

The Department of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A) leads and coordinates research projects intended to provide information that informs the planning and decision-making process of the College. In addition, IR&A submits numerous reports to SUNY and federal agencies to assure compliance with system wide and federal policies and legislation.

The IR&A supports faculty and staff in assessing the learning outcomes of students and the effectiveness of achieving Maritime College’s mission and goals. Special focus is on the learning outcomes of academic and student affairs programs. The Department works closely with the Faculty Assessment Committee and the Student Policy Committee.

Three full-time professionals constitute the department of IR&A; specifically, the Director, the Associate for Institutional Research, and a Senior Computer Programmer. The Director reports to the Provost and is a member of the President’s Cabinet.

For inquiries or requests for data, please contact the Director of IR&A, Dr. Michael Cappeto, at mcappeto@sunymaritime.edu or (718) 409-7353.
