Waterfront Advisory Committee
In 1995, then College President Admiral John Ryan called upon distinguished Maritime alumnus Gary Jobson ’73 to help guide the revitalization of the College’s Waterfront. In this short time Gary Jobson has headed a Waterfront Advisory Committee that along with the impressive list of members has recommended significant investment and reorganization of the waterfront. The Committee’s recommendations for new staff, a fleet of dinghies, crew shells, coach boats and floating docks was met enthusiastically by the College’s administration resulting in more than $350,000 of investments.
Current President Admiral John Craine has continued the support for the waterfront stating unequivocally that Maritime’s goal is to have “the best collegiate waterfront in the country.” In support of this directive plans are progressing for a $10 million waterfront improvement project. A Waterfront Master Plan will also be part of the campus wide master plan slated to begin shortly.
Maritime College is indebted to the Waterfront Advisory Committee members that have contributed their time and invaluable experience to support the waterfront.
