Rob Crafa came to Maritime after serving as the Executive Director of The Waterfront Center in Oyster Bay, where he helped create and develop the marine education and recreation center that operated the largest sailing school on Long Island. Previously Rob was a Coastal Resource Specialist with the New York Department of State, Division of Coastal Resources and Executive Director of Friends of the Bay in Oyster Bay.
A life long resident of the north shore of Long Island, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Technology from Springfield College (Springfield, MA) and a Master of Science in Management and Policy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He lives in Northport with his wife Stephanie and their two children Griffin and Nicholas.
Russ O'Reilly, Head Sailing Coach

Russ O’Reilly is in his second year as head sailing coach at Maritime. In his first year, the Privateer sailing team earned a berth at the ICSA Co-ed National Championships in Wisconsin. Previously, he was the head sailing coach of the Antilles School in the U.S. Virgin Islands, leading the team to three consecutive national championship berths. A 2007 graduate of the College of Charleston, he brings a wealth of small-boat racing experience and a strong drive to continue pushing Maritime to the top of the national collegiate sailing rankings.
While at College of Charleston, O’Reilly competed in six national championship events between 2005 and 2007, winning three. He led the Charleston Cougars to consecutive National Championship wins in fleet racing in 2006 and 2007, first winning the B division in 2006 and the A division in 2007. In the fall of his senior year, he also competed in and won the National Sloop Championship in J22’s. He was named a two-time ISCA All-American skipper, as well as being twice named to the ICSA All-Academic Team. In addition, he was named one of three finalists for the Everett B. Morris College Sailor of the Year Trophy, the highest individual honor attainable in collegiate sailing. Finally, his two National Championship wins in his senior year led the school to the Fowle Trophy, awarded annually to the top overall college sailing team in the country.
O’Reilly is currently active in the Vanguard 15 class and an avid team racer. Additionally, he is campaigning a Melges 24 keelboat with his siblings for the 2011 World Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas.
