Recent Donations and Examples of Boats Sought
Maritime College is looking for donations of sail and motor boats with a minimum value of $20,000 or meeting one of our many waterfront program needs including:
- High performance racing sailboats 38’ – 45’ (i.e. Swan 45’)
- Cruising or racing sailboats with auxiliary power, such as the recently donated J-105 and J-35 that are used by the offshore sailing team.
- Day sailors (i.e. J-22, J-24, Sonar, Colgate 26’) for match racing, learn-to-sail, and recreational sailing programs
- Powerboats including run-abouts for use as safety/coach boats and to teach safe power boating (i.e. Boston Whalers) and cruising boats also for teaching safe power boating and for using as race committee
- Sails and equipment such as radios, GPS
- Vanguard FJ’s and 420’s
- Kayaks, canoes and dinghies

The wide variety of waterfront programs enables Maritime College to make “significant intervening use” of a variety of boats which enables donors to maximize the value of their boat.
Examples of recent donations include:
- 1986 J24 sailboat (Newport, RI) - significant use, learn to sail, community programs
- 2005 Rinker Fiesta Vee 342 (Berlin, MD)- significant use, powerboat training, VIP development cruises
- 1991 Ocean Master 31' (Riviera Beach, FL)- significant use, powerboat training, fishing club
- 2000 World Catamaran 262 (Charleston, SC) - significant use, powerboat training, fishing club
- 1987 Mako 224 (Greenwich, CT) - held for sale, proceeds to support programs
- 1990 Frers 38’ (Mamaroneck, NY) – offshore sailing team race boat
- 1985 Blackfin 32’ Sportfish (New Rochelle, NY)– material improvement, sale to benefit programs
- 1998 J-105 Sailboat: Merrythought (Charleston, SC) – offshore sailing team race boat
