Ayman Alakkawi

Mr. Alakkawi teaches USCG courses for professional mariners at SUNY Maritime.

Previously, he sailed on containerships, VLCCs, bulkers and general cargo ships for 11 years, earning the rank of chief engineer. He came ashore to work as a marine surveyor and technical superintendent before becoming a senior maritime engineering lecturer at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. There, he served on the technical committee of the IMO's Caribbean Regional Office for the review of small commercial vessels code for Caribbean.
