Maritime College is very pleased to announce that based on the NYS Governor’s announcement yesterday regarding the lifting of many COVID restrictions, the campus may now open to guests and visitors for ship return and departure.  TS Empire State VI will return from the A-Cruise at 1100 on Friday, 25 June, and depart on B-Cruise at 1000 on Thursday, 1 July. 

 

 

 

 

Campus Access

The following NYS guidance will be in place for visitors in preparation for Ship Return:

  • Visitors will not be permitted on campus before 0700.

  • Visitors are requested to carpool as parking on campus has been reduced due to construction on the Throggs Neck Bridge.

  • University Police will direct vehicles to the appropriate parking areas.

  • In accordance with CDC and NYS guidelines that remain in effect:

    • Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks

    • Unvaccinated persons are required to wear masks.

  • There will be no food service available on campus.

  • NO TAILGATING IS PERMITTED ON CAMPUS.

  • NO ALCOHOL.

Alternative Viewing SitEs 

As an alternative and to reduce the number of people on campus and traffic on Pennyfield Avenue, we encourage family and friends to consider observing the EMPIRE STATE’s transit by visiting one of the many viewing sites and public parks along the East River.  These include:

  • Francis Lewis Park, Whitestone

  • Ferry Point Park, Throggs Neck

  • Clason Point Park, Soundview

  • Hermon A. Macneil Park, College Point

  • Randall’s Island

  • Astoria Park, Astoria Queens

  • Roosevelt Island

  • John Lindsey East River Park, Lower East Side

  • Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge Park

  • South Street Seaport
