International Transportation and Trade
Queens, New York
Why did you decide to come to SUNY Maritime?
I think a lot of people are here because their parents say, ‘Hey, there’s this school that will make you a lot of money.’ I didn’t know what I was getting into at first but I found out it’s a really good school.
Coming here has been the best decision I’ve ever made.
What do you do outside of class?
I wanted to make sure I fit in here. It’s so important to get involved. I have a job in Student Affairs – once I joined them, that’s when I really found my place.
I’m also an RA. I feel so special that they think I have what they need to be in that role.
Why did you decide to major in international transportation and trade?
I think I want to go into operations or logistics. I’m a very organized person; I like to know everything that’s going on.
The ship industry is such a big industry and it’s worldwide and it’s not going anywhere.
Even if I don’t go into the shipping industry, I have a business degree. Maybe I’ll go into airport cargo or the fashion industry or maybe even a school. The possibilities are endless.
What’s your favorite thing about SUNY Maritime?
I love the people here. The regiment has the biggest part of campus but civilians are here too and I want to do whatever I can to help other students. I will put down anything I’m doing to help them.
It means so much to me to know I’ve done something to be a leader and that people can say, ‘That’s an outstanding student.’
