Introduction

The challenge for the country is to create a cost effective mechanism to update, validate, and introduce into classrooms and training ships Nth generation integrated curriculum in the port and maritime security field.

Meeting the Challenge

A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT was awarded between the Maritime Administration (MARAD), through the SUNY Research Foundation for a consortium formed by  the Six State Maritime Academies called the Maritime Port and Security Working Group (PMSWG) to support and strengthen port and maritime security curriculum. 

The challenge for the country is to create a cost effective mechanism to update, validate, and introduce into classrooms and training ships Nth generation integrated curriculum in the port and maritime security field. The following is ongoing and planned activities of some of the Maritime Colleges to meet this challenge.

Program Objectives


To update, validate, and introduce into classrooms NTH generation integrated curriculum in the port and maritime security field.

Institutionalization

The PMSWG’s first priority will be to develop and implement on each of our six campuses an integrated national program to strengthen curriculum for port and maritime security. Our results will be shared with MARAD and the broader maritime community through a dedicated web site.
