Introduction
The challenge for the country is to create a cost effective mechanism to update, validate, and introduce into classrooms and training ships Nth generation integrated curriculum in the port and maritime security field.
Meeting the Challenge
A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT was awarded between the Maritime Administration (MARAD), through the SUNY Research Foundation for a consortium formed by the Six State Maritime Academies called the Maritime Port and Security Working Group (PMSWG) to support and strengthen port and maritime security curriculum.
Program Objectives
To update, validate, and introduce into classrooms NTH generation integrated curriculum in the port and maritime security field.
Institutionalization
The PMSWG’s first priority will be to develop and implement on each of our six campuses an integrated national program to strengthen curriculum for port and maritime security. Our results will be shared with MARAD and the broader maritime community through a dedicated web site.To review the course offerings of the six state academys- click on a link to the right.
