7.1 Locating Articles

Indexes and databases help you to find salient articles, but unless you found the citation through a full-text database that has a subscription to that journal, you may still need to locate the article.Search_Sextant

In general your strategy should be to see if the article is available to you through electronic access (using the e-Journals search feature), through our print holdings (through the Sextant Catalog) or finally, through Interlibrary Loan.

A print index or an electronic index will only provide citation information --or perhaps some and abstract information as well. Although you may have full-text access through some of our electronic databases, you may find that you do not have direct access to all the articles listed in the results (full access depends on whether Luce Library subscribes to that journal through that particular database).

In each case, note the citation information to find the article in print or through another database or electronic resource.
