Information Literacy
The Stephen B. Luce Library Instructional Program serves the teaching and learning needs of the SUNY Maritime College. The library curriculum provides instruction on locating, accessing, and evaluating print and electronic resources. Instruction is offered to students and faculty through workshops, course-intergrated lectures, handouts and instructional guides. The library strives to offer the skill and knowledge that is required to be a successful lifelong learner.

Librarians are available for:

  • scheduling meetings with faculty and students to discuss new electronic subscriptions and resources
  • organizing one-on-one or a small group tutorial sessions for faculty and students on library's electronic resources and information resources
  • inviting groups of faculty and students to the library for a demonstration of the print/electronic collections in specific disciplines of their interest
  • creating pathfinders and research guides for specific disciplines
  • promoting research pathfinders to the academic departments and students
  • consulting with teaching faculty and arrange to teach specific workshops tailored to specific courses utilizing the library's resources and collections
  • working with faculty to supplement research material to course syllabi
