Emergency Notification Systems

SUNY Maritime has two emergency notification systems - RAVE and SUNY NY Alert.

RAVE can send alerts through SUNY Maritime email and college social media, as well as cell phones, via text and voice message. Everyone with a SUNY Maritime email address has been automatically signed up to receive email notifications.

Texts and voicemails are sent to those who sign up for the free service. To sign up, click here.

Alerts will be sent to notify the campus community of weather-related delays and closures, and other emergencies that affect most of campus.

RAVE FAQs

How do I sign up?

All students with a SUNY Maritime email is automatically signed up. Faculty and staff have to sign up to recieve email notifications. Click here to receive text messages and other notifications. Click “Forgot Password” and enter your school email address. RAVE will send you a secure password. Log in and update your preferences.

 

What kinds of information will I get through RAVE?

RAVE will be used to notify the campus community about events that impact the majority of campus, such as weather delays and closures. The college will also test the system periodically.

 

Is the information I share secure?

Yes. The data you share is collected and stored securely. Additionally, it is not shared with any third-party vendors.

 

Will I be charged to use RAVE?

The service is free, but your cell phone carrier may charge you standard text and data rates. Check with your provider for more information.

 

Can my parents sign up?

You need a SUNY Maritime email account to receive campus alerts. However, students may add family members’ phone numbers to their accounts.

 

I received a text from 672-83. Is this number valid?

Yes. That is the number RAVE uses for SUNY Maritime notifications.
