Each year, SUNY Maritime provides more than $1 million in scholarship assistance to more than 1,000 students.
SUNY Maritime offers a wide range of scholarships funded by the college's Salllyport Fund, scholarship endowments and supporting organizations, such as the Faculty Student Association and the Maritime College Alumni Association. These awards are made possible by the generous donations of alumni, faculty, staff, industry partners, corporations and friends of the college.
The financial aspects of scholarships are governed by rules and regulations administered by the Financial Aid Office.
Current students can apply for 2018-2019 scholarships until May 1, 2018.
Current students may apply online for select scholarships that are based on academic performance, financial need or other criteria, as determined by donors.
Incoming students are automatically considered for merit scholarships. These scholarships are awarded at the time of admission and do not require a supplemental application.
Merit scholarships for incoming students are competitive and awarded to top applicants. Meeting minimum academic requirements does not guarantee earning a scholarship.
The Excelsior Scholarship makes it possible for students whose families earn less than $100,000 adjusted gross income a year to attend a SUNY school tuition-free.
NYS STEM Incentive Program
The New York State STEM Incentive Program offers a full-SUNY tuition scholarship to students in the top 10 percent of their class who are pursuing associate or bachelor's degrees in science, technology, engineering or math fields. SUNY Maritime's Faculty Student Association offers scholarships to students participating in the study abroad program hosted by the Department of Global Business and Transportation.
There are external and private scholarship funds available to students of all qualifications, abilities and interests. These external scholarships may be provided by private donors, foundations, businesses and many other sources outside the college.
