Sean Carswell is a professor in the Engineering Department and served as Project Manager for Reliability Centered Analysis (RCA) on CalTrans and Auto Carrier Fleets during his time at the McHenry Mangagement Group. He was the assistant Project Manager for Reliability Centered Analysis for Amfleet and P-42 locomotives. He developed overhaul procedures for AmFleet, Superliner, and Surfliner car fleets, and he was project leader and developer of cleaning procedures based on the RCA process for all Amtrak fleets.

Carswell also served as Transit Maintenance Manager at T-Solutions where he managed maintenance work on High Speed Train Consist (Acela dual 6K horsepower (4,470 kW) power cars, 11K VAC). He also worked as Third Engineer at Tyco with responsibilities that included monitoring the safe and efficient operation of engineering machinery, equipment and spaces.
