Jean Paul's journey at Maritime College started in August 2014 with the Department of Global Business and Transportation, where he was hired as an adjunct faculty member. He holds a Master’s degree in economics from the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at City College, the City University of New York (CUNY) and a bachelor’s degree in computing and management from Lehman College, the City University of New York. He has fifteen years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level, driven to inspire students to pursue academic and personal excellence. As a faculty member teaching principle of macroeconomics and microeconomics, his teaching philosophy is centered on instilling in students a deep understanding of macroeconomic concepts and their real-world applications. He believes that macroeconomics is a vital discipline for comprehending the functioning of economies and the impacts of economic policies. It is his goal to empower students with the knowledge and analytical skills necessary to navigate the complex macroeconomic landscape. To achieve this, he prioritizes creating an interactive and engaging learning environment. Jean Paul employs various teaching methods, including lectures, class discussions, case studies, and multimedia resources. He encourages active participation and fosters an open and inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions, challenging ideas, and sharing their perspectives.

Before joining Maritime College, Jean Paul held an adjunct faculty position in economics and business with the Department of Economics and Business at Lehman College (CUNY) from 2005 to 2011. Moreover, he also held positions as a banker with Citibank and JPMorgan Chase.

Jean Paul is currently working as an Academic Coach for the Urban Male Leadership Program at Lehman College. Furthermore, since joining Maritime College, he has been involved with the maritime community, especially his current and former students, by discussing and advising them as far as their career choices are concerned regarding internships and professional positions in the maritime industry, and by providing them with letters of recommendation to pursue advanced degrees such as Master's and doctoral degrees.
