Ira Breskin

Breskin teaches expository writing, journalism, maritime history and applied economics at Maritime. His recently published book, The Business of Shipping (9th edition), features new chapters on environmental regulations, supply chain software and the industry's future. Before joining the faculty, Breskin worked for 25 years as a reporter/editor for several business publications. He is a freelance writer outside of the classroom. Breskin has won several fellowships including a Knight Bagehot from Columbia University and a National Endowment for the Humanities award to study maritime history at Mystic Seaport.
