
Captain Ranjan Chowdhury is a British Master Mariner with more than 42 years of experience in the global maritime industry. He joined Maritime College in August 2025, bringing a wealth of expertise spanning maritime education, training, and operations.
Throughout his distinguished career, Captain Chowdhury served in a variety of leadership roles, including Marine Investigator, Marine Compliance Surveyor, Training Manager with V.Ships, and Fleet Personnel Manager for Crew Management (SRPS). He also sailed as Master with Wilh. Wilhelmsen for several years before returning to maritime education to advance continuous professional development (CPD) among seafarers.
He holds a Master Mariner certification from England and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. Captain Chowdhury is also an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute (AFNI), London.
