A native of Boca Raton, Florida, Captain Farrell was commissioned in 1995 as a Surface Warfare Officer. He has served as the Communications Officer and Strike Officer aboard the USS ANTIETAM, Executive Officer and Weapons Officer aboard USS MONSOON, Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS BUNKER HILL, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS COLE, and Commanding Officer of USS SAN JACINTO. He has deployed in support of the following operations and Combatant Commands: SOUTHERN WATCH, SOCOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, UNIFIED ASSISTANCE, ENDURING FREEDOM, ATLANTIC SENTRY, SHARP SENTRY, and ACTIVE ENDEAVOR. Ashore, he has served on a joint staff, as a division officer instructor, on the CNO's staff, in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and at Fleet Forces Command. He joined NYC NROTC as the Commanding Officer in August 2023.
