A Decade of Honor: Remembering the El Faro
Date
The Maritime College community gathered for its annual El Faro Memorial Formation to honor the memory of the 33 mariners who tragically lost their lives while facing Hurricane Joaquin in 2015. Among them was alumnus Rich Pusatere '03. This morning's memorial welcomed Rich's family, including his mother Lilian, father Frank, wife Emily, and daughter Josephine.
Rich, who was born and raised in Croton-on-Hudson, graduated from Maritime with a Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Engineering and held a USCG Third Assistant Engineer License. Their memory serves as a reminder of the inherent risks in our industry and our duty to those who serve at sea.
