Three Maritime Players Receive Skyline Major Awards
THROGGS NECK, NY – For the first time since 2019, the Maritime College men's lacrosse team has earned three of the Skyline Conference major awards for the 2026 season. Sophomore Nick Uzakewicz was named Skyline Offensive Player of the Year, while junior Brody Smith was chosen as the Skyline Co-Defensive Player of the Year and freshman Thomas McCarvill was the Privateers' second straight Skyline Rookie of the Year selection.
Joining Uzakewicz and Smith on the First Team were sophomores Ryan Hannaford and Michael Weigand. Maritime's other Second Team honorees included Tyler Mahood, Christopher Laino, Nick Spista, and Collin Brush.

Uzakewicz, last season's Skyline Rookie of the Year, is currently ranked second nationally with 4.33 assists per game. His school-record 10 assists against Purchase were tied for the fifth most in a contest this season. He averages over two assists per game more than the next-closest player in the league.

Smith has played lockdown defense all season while typically marking the opponent's best offensive player. His caused turnovers rank among the conference leaders, and he has been a consistent defensive force.

McCarvill is second on the team with 44 goals and third with 53 points. He has recorded multiple hat tricks this season and ranks among the top scorers in the conference.
Maritime finished in a three-way tie for first place and will enter the Skyline Tournament as the No. 3 seed.
