Our newest MUGs begin a journey rooted in leadership, tradition, and resilience. We’re proud to welcome one of the largest incoming classes in Maritime College history—your legacy starts now.

We’ll be documenting INDOC 2025  on social media, so stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at the training, transformation, and teamwork that define the Cadet experience.

The Class of 2029 arrived at Fort Schuyler ready to take the first step on their journey towards success. The selfless and disciplined IDO Cadre, with support from the entire Maritime Team, are forging the next generation of character-based leaders. “Give way together!"

With the support of Cadet Cadre and Regimental leadership, MUGs are breaking old habits, building strength—mind and body—and forging bonds that will carry them across oceans. Every drill, every challenge, shaping them into the leaders they’re becoming.

From room inspections to uniform fittings, and everything in between, our IDOs are guiding the MUGs through this transformative journey. Each step, including the MUG Handbook, is designed to instill values and skills that go beyond the basics.

As they prepare to enter the next phase, the MUGs are not just finding their place - they are building a legacy that will carry them confidently into the maritime world. 🌊⚓

MUGs continue to progress through a rigorous schedule designed to build discipline, knowledge, and confidence. Today’s training introduced essential elements of Cadet life — drills, a deep dive into the MUG Handbook, and orientation with the Licensing Office, Cadet Shipping, NROTC, and PLC opportunities. In addition, they began hands-on instruction in water safety, sailing basics, and survival skills, which are critical foundations for success at sea and beyond.

MUGs are tackling it all - from Monomoy and VPDSD drills to swim tests, our MUGs are receiving vital training in fire and swim safety. As they gain hands-on experience aboard TS Empire State VII, they are building the skills and confidence they’ll need to lead at sea. With the time-honored Monomoy Race set for September 27, cadets are preparing to row into tradition.
