Allison Romain

Alison Romain’s business career began as a commercial lender. She worked for nine years with a wide variety of corporate clients, ranging from large multinational corporations to small regional firms. After taking time off to raise her family, Romain completed an MBA at Fordham University within the intention of reentering the corporate workforce. However, after she tried teaching at Westchester Community College she fell in love with it. Finding not just a job but her second career. A year later Romain landed a second job at the Maritime College. Soon after, she was soon offered a full-time teaching position, instructing courses on Financial and Managerial Accounting as well as Financial Management. Since then, her involvement and responsibilities with the school have grown exponentially, particularly in regard to experiential learning. Romain is the coordinator for the International Trade & Transportation Internship and Summer Study Abroad programs.

She was elected to serve on the Student Policies Committee and became its chair. Subsequently, Romain was selected to serve on the Middle States Assessment Steering Committee and the Affirmative Action Committee. By virtue of chairing the Student Policies Committee, she also sat on the Executive Committee. Romain has been a board member of the Irvington Education Foundation and her responsibilities included making decisions about program grants, heading fundraising projects, creating and implementing new processes, and organizing volunteers. Additionally, Romain went through emergency medical training so that she could serve the community as a volunteer with the local ambulance corps. Romain is also currently a doctoral student in Organizational Communication at University at Albany. For her dissertation, she plans to focus on the role of a leader in communicating internally and externally an organization’s ethical standards
