
Patrick is a full-time Lecturer here at Maritime College, his Alma Mater (Class of 1982). He has significant maritime industry experience in commercial, technical and legal matters. Patrick sailed for Mobil Oil in the Gulf of America, piloting a service tug and barge in the offshore Louisiana oil fields. He has held significant shoreside positions for several major players in the industry, such as Sanko Steamship Co. of Japan and V. Ships Shipping Management, of Monte Carlo. He headed up the shipping division for a small investment banking firm which specialized in the asset play of a vessel’s value inherent in the cyclical shipping market.
Patrick brings with him extensive experience in vessel chartering, vessel operations, vessel sale & purchase, technical management and marine insurance. He obtained his law degree in the evening division of Fordham University School of Law in May 1992. For 25 years he practiced Admiralty Law in New York City, representing shipowners, operators, time-charterers and their respective insurance companies in dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and, when necessary, litigation in the Federal and State courts of New York.
Patrick joined the faculty of the GBAT Dept. as an adjunct in August of 2017. Patrick has instructed students in the following courses: Business Law, Admiralty Law, Marine Insurance, Transportation Systems Management, The Business of Shipping, and Introduction to Business and Economics. In Fall 2024, he joined the department as a full-time instructor.
