New York State Scholarships
Excelsior Scholarship
The New York State Excelsior Scholarship is a state funded scholarship program designed to support full-time undergraduate students whose families earn less than $125,000 adjusted gross income (AGI) a year. The Excelsior Scholarship makes it possible for students to attend a SUNY school tuition-free. The Excelsior Scholarship is administered by Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC). Further details are available here.
Students eligible for NYS Excelsior Scholarship must enroll in at least 12 credits per term and complete at least 30 credits each academic year (successively), applicable towards their degree program through continuous study with no break in enrollment. Courses that do not apply towards students' degree program, including remedial courses such as MATH 080 (or MATH 090 for certain programs), will not count toward the full-time status requirement or 30 credits earned minimum.
Scholarship for Academic Excellence
New York State awards a limited number of tuition scholarships to outstanding graduates of participating New York high schools for up to five years of undergraduate study at an in-state college or university. Recipients are selected based on students' scores on certain NYS Regents exams.

It should be noted that the number of scholarships is limited by the annual funding Maritime College receives and availability of nomination by District each year.
Other New York State Scholarships
The state legislature has established a number of other scholarships designed to guarantee access to higher education for family members and financial dependents of military or other uniformed service personnel who died or were permanently disabled in the line of duty and of other persons who perished or were permanently disabled in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center or certain other disasters.
