Naval Architecture Students Bring Ship Designs from Concept to Testing
Date
Naval Architecture students put their ship design skills to the test by transforming classroom concepts into physical models. Using the College's in-house CNC machine, students converted digitally designed hull forms into precision models that are now being shaped and refined for upcoming hull resistance testing.
This hands-on work is part of the Ship Design course series led by Professor Hari Balasubramanian, which gives students experience across the full engineering process, from software-based design and advanced machining to real-world data collection and analysis.
By bridging theory and practice, the program equips Maritime engineers with the technical expertise and applied skills that set them apart in the maritime industry.
