Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
The State University of New York's Arthur O. Eve Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides college access to students who show promise by offering academic support, counseling, financial assistance and advocacy. The origins of the program are in the Rockefeller Administration of the 1960s, when the Master Plan of the State University set forth that "every student capable of completing a program of higher education should have the opportunity to do so." Subsequently, Assemblyman Arthur O. Eve of Buffalo further developed and implemented these principles of access and opportunity by developing the appropriation bill that created the Educational Opportunity Program.
Our Maritime College EOP student cohort has the direct support of our EOP Counselor, who provides advising and logistical support, and is open to students who meet the qualifications, including residence in New York for twelve months prior to enrollment. For more information, you can read more about SUNY's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and contact our Admissions Department.
