
Dr. Meirowitz has taught at Maritime for fifteen years. He holds a doctorate in Political Science and is a lawyer. Dr. Meirowitz is an expert in Turkish Foreign Policy, U.S.-Turkish Relations and Turkish-Israeli Relations. He completed the SUNY Levin Fellowship, teaching English conversation to Turkish Faculty while at Istanbul Technical University. He teaches American History, American Foreign Policy, Constitutional Law, English (including English to Foreign Students) and The Holocaust (a course he originated at Maritime), and developed a graduate course on Ocean Politics and Law. Dr. Meirowitz frequently appears in the US and international media as a commentator on issues related to international relations and US domestic politics. He writes and lectures extensively on these and other topics.
He is writing a book on Turkish Foreign Policy for Fort Schuyler Press. He has been a panelist and moderator at numerous conferences and panels including the AIPAC National Conference, the Turkey Focus Group of the National Defense University, and at the annual conferences of the Transatlantic Studies Association (he serves on the Management Committee). He organized conferences at Maritime to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli/Canakkale Campaign, and to explore the legacy of Captain Cook and the HMB Endeavour. He also served as moderator of Faculty/Industry Colloquia.
He has served as moderator of the Library Lecture Series since its inception. He originated the "Table Talks" program (a platform for discussion of civic issues). He developed a Podcast Series for Maritime, completing the first podcast on the history of the Empire State VII. He has for many years organized the Constitution Day observance at Maritime.
