
Dr. Springs is an Associate Professor of English, Philosophy, and Humanities who currently serves as Chairperson of the Humanities Department. She has over 20 years of experience in higher ed; this is her 11th year at Maritime College.
Dr. Springs' areas of expertise in Literature include: The Restoration and Eighteenth Century, Women Writers, Courtship and Domestic Novels, Satire and Comedy, Early American literature, Native American literature, Multicultural and Postcolonial literature.
Dr. Springs areas of expertise in Philosophy include: Enlightenment Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, Rhetoric, Social Contract Theory, and Aesthetics.
Dr. Springs' areas of expertise in Research and Communication include: Information Literacy, Composition and Rhetoric, and Digital Humanities.
Dr. Springs has three maritime themed projects in development: a philosophical treatise on the meanings of Maritime Monsters; a literary analysis of the tradition of the Robinsonade; and a cultural inquiry into the symbolism of Lighthouses.

Maritime Monsters: What Lies Beneath? for the Humanities Department’s graduate program. She also team teaches GBUS 610: Maritime Cybersecurity with her colleagues from across the disciplines at Maritime.
