Campus Resources
Title IX requirements ensure that certain campus entities respond accordingly to the enumerated offenses. These on campus entities ensure due process for all members of the community. Transparency is critical for an ethical and comprehensive resolution. Community members reporting matters have no obligation to participate in Title IX services or may utilize all or part of the services the campus has to offer. Privacy is essential to trust; however not all matters and people can remain anonymous or confidential due to the nature of the offense, the safety of the greater Maritime community and for due process under the regulations. All employees, with exception to those listed under Confidential Resources, must report and refer matters of sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct to the Title IX Coordinator for appropriate response.
SUNY Maritime College students and employees have the right to make a report to University Police, local law enforcement, and/or the NY State Police or choose not to report; to report the incident to your college; to be protected by the college from retaliation for reporting an incident; and to receive assistance and resources from your college.
Title IX Coordinator
The Title IX Coordinator offers resources to support any student, faculty, or staff member who has been affected by an incident of sexual or gender-based harassment or misconduct. It is essential to recognize that NY law further protects gender identification and expression and deviates from the binary concept of the federal regulations. You do not have to file a formal report or press criminal charges to receive assistance. Whether you are looking for counseling and emotional support; academic, housing, or work accommodations; or to learn more about reporting and investigations, the information below can help you get in direct contact with the resources that best fit your individual situation.
