Paw-Fect Study Break

On September 8th, Maritime College hosted a "Paw-Fect Study Break," made possible through a special visit from Hero Labradors and The Hero Academy. The organizations are dedicated to training service dogs that support veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities.
Hundreds of students participated in the event, which provided a welcome opportunity to relax, connect, and recharge during a busy semester. The visit was particularly meaningful for our newest Privateers, including the MUG Class of 2029, as they continue transitioning to life at Maritime.
This initiative reflects President RADM John Okon's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff have access to resources that strengthen both well-being and community.
The event highlighted the power of partnership and the positive impact that programs like Hero Labradors and The Hero Academy can have on campus life. To learn more about Hero Labradors and The Hero Academy, visit Herolabradors.org.
