Elissa DeFalco

Dr. De Falco has taught at Maritime College since 2007. Her academic research is centered on piracy via literature, history and culture in the eighteenth century.

Serving as Director of the Student Engagement and Advising Center allows her a completely unique experience to engage with Maritime's extraordinary students, faculty and staff.

Nick Dorot

Nick runs the Learning Center and test proctoring services at Maritime College. He has an extensive background in counseling and academic advising, and previously worked as the EOP counselor at Maritime.

He also put a tiny cartoon squirrel in the background of his picture, which you will only notice if you actually read this.

Esperanza Diaz

Esperanza Diaz brings a wealth of experience to her role as the Educational Opportunity Counselor (EOP) at SUNY Maritime. She has been in educational counseling for over 25 years and joined us in December 2023. Ms. Diaz is enthusiastic about collaborating with staff and faculty to ensure the success of all students under her purview.

Pam Trowbridge

Pam's enthusiasm for international education comes from her experiences living in three foreign countries and five US states and working with international and study abroad students for over 15 years. Maritime College's mission to "educate dynamic leaders for the global maritime industry" permeates all aspects of her Coordinator job.

Anthony DiPiazza

Anthony DiPiazza

Born and raised in Texas—with a three-year stint in Kansas—Anthony DiPiazza expatriated to the Bronx, New York in the summer of 2008. He currently lives in New Rochelle, NY with his wife Charlotte Willis, PhD; and their two sons: Gabriel (b. 2012) and Nathan (b. 2020).

Professor Anthony DiPiazza is a Senior Lecturer at SUNY Maritime in the Humanities Department, where has taught since 2009, first as an Adjunct before his promotions to Visiting Instructor (2013), Lecturer (2017), and then Senior Lecturer (2021).

At Maritime, Professor DiPiazza has developed and taught ENGL 90: Practice in Reading and Writing for Maritime's summer Educational Opportunity Program (EOP); ENGL 101: Freshman English I; ENGL 250: Drama; and ENGL/ENGR 3XX: Technical Communication and Ethics for Engineers (formerly ENGL 103: Freshman English II for Engineers).

In addition to Maritime, he has also taught at Hostos Community College, Marymount Manhattan, and Fordham University (Rose Hill Campus).

Dr. Lidh has more than two decades' experience in teaching (English) and student support, having overseen the launch of learning/advising centers at now four different colleges.Dr. Lidh values collaboration and integration as keys to effective advising and engagement; hence, the Student Engagement and Advising Center.
