All students are reminded that a conviction for illegal drug use normally precludes licensure as an officer in theUnited States Merchant Marine.Except as noted below, student use, consumption, possession, or transporting of alcoholic beverages is prohibited on the college grounds, the training ship and in any vehicle or craft belonging to the college. Students returning to the college grounds or the training ship under the influence of intoxicants are subject to Campus Judicial discipline for this offense. Alcoholic beverages may be authorized for certain student events when the vast majority of attendees will be 21 years of age or older, e.g. senior year functions.
The illegal use, consumption, possession, or transporting of narcotics and illegal drugs by any student is prohibited and will make him/her subject to arrest and prosecution.
“Drugs” include, but are not limited to the following:
A) Drugs requiring a prescription but which are obtained without a physician’s order, such as methedrine (speed) and amphetamines (uppers), antidepressants, sedatives, and barbiturates (downers), tranquilizers, and hypnotics.
B) Narcotics, such as morphine, heroin, codeine cocaine.
C) Aerosol (freon), airplane glue, paint thinner, nail polish remover, gasoline, when used as deliriants.
D) Chemical substances such as LSD (acid), marijuana, THC, peyote buttons, Mescaline, DMT, DOM, STP, and so forth.
