STCW Requirements
This course covers security threats and patterns; recognition and detection of weapons, dangerous substances and devices; recognition of characteristics and behavioral patters of people who may threaten security; techniques used to avoid security measures; crowd management and control; communication; emergency procedures and contingency plans; operating, maintaining and testing security equipment and systems; inspection and monitoring techniques; and conducting physical searches of people, baggage and cargo, among other things.
A mariner who successfully completes the course will satisfy the training requirements of 46 CFR 12.625(a)(1) and STCW Table A-VI/6-2 for an STCW endorsement as Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties.
Prerequisites:

Those who are likely to have designated security duties in connection with the vessel security plan should take this course.
